ACAT Program in Colleges and Universities

ACAT has an extensive program in working with colleges to integrate the ABA examination into the curriculum. ACAT provides a turnkey program for offering the Capstone course in your Accounting Department. Whether college or technical institute, the Capstone course can serve as the culmination of your students' studies in accounting. It also prepares your students to take the ABA examination. The examination serves as an external validation of your students' education in accounting and taxation. Your students graduate not only with a degree but with a nationally recognized credential in accounting and taxation. They become Accredited Business Accountants (ABA).

The ABA exam is put together by a committee of subject matter experts with the aid of a psychometrician. Periodically, a job practice analysis is done to ensure that the test questions cover the tasks that accountants perform.

Colleges Who Use the Capstone Course Say:

Beal College uses the Capstone Review course as an option to doing an accounting externship at the end of one's accounting program, and the majority of the students opt for the course. It is an excellent snapshot review before heading out into the workforce, as well as for preparing them to take the ACAT exam. My students are glad we have such a course, and I highly recommend it.
Judy Getchell, Beal College, ME

The capstone course gives my students, whether they take the exam or not, an opportunity to freshen up their knowledge base of all of the accounting 'theory' classes that they have taken.

It gives them a higher degree of confidence when they go on a job interview since they feel that their accounting knowledgebase is 'current'. For those who take the class and successfully pass the ABA exam, there is a tremendous feeling of accomplishment and a significant rise in their professional esteem.
Lanny Nelms, Gwinnet Tech, GA

I enjoy teaching the Capstone Class and I think the CD-ROM is an excellent back-up tool.
Dr. Carla Rich, Pensacola Junior College, FL
